#2: Tourist railroads are often staffed by surly, seasonal employees
providing a minimal level of service in exchange for minimum wage.
Narrators often read from boring, prepared scripts or chatter constantly
for an entire journey.
The staff of the Wilton Scenic
Railroad appear to enjoy and value their jobs. The car attendants
are helpful, polite and give the impression they want patrons to enjoy
the trip. The conductor provides a reasonable, interesting and appropriately
timed narration of trackside oddities without being overly verbose.
Now, if they could mix a
good cocktail with a little umbrella...
