We board the antique coaches - many of which date from
the early 1920's. Retired from metropolitan commuter service on the
east coast, they have been sent across the country to work here.
In the middle of the train is an open car - where you can stand as the
train moves and watch the redwoods towering above your head.
These old coaches have cool seats that allow you to "roll" the backrests
back and forth, allowing you to choose to face forward or backward, sit
as a couple or sit as a foursome. It's a clever idea that got lost
by seating designers somewhere a long time ago. The kids are entertained
for at least several minutes by the seats. |
