The rails turn to the east and we begin to travel along
the shoreline. These are the moments of rail travel that are nearly
impossible to capture on film. The gentle sway of the coaches and
the play of the light on the water is hypnotic.
Moments like these make me wonder why more people don't choose to travel
by rail. This trip to Reno takes just an hour longer by train than
by car and comes without the concerns of traffic. There are no lines
at airport counters to check baggage, no tight seats or cramped overhead
bins. And you get this view of the world neither cars nor planes
can ever provide. |
