SisterBetty.orgRail Tripping
This line was built in the 1860's by the Central Pacific as part of the first transcontinental railroad - built by hand, with over 80% of the labor provided by Chinese immigrants.  Using picks, shovels, wheel barrows and horse dumpcarts, these laborers cut the line through the mountains.  As the line clings to the sides of the mountains and passes through long tunnels, the effort required to build this line is clear.
