Exterior
The raised section in the middle of the roof houses the radiators and
fans. The engine housing is visible directly below the radiators
under the train.
The engines are connected to the trucks via a torque convertor and drive
shaft. A torque converter is a type of fluid coupling which allows
the engine to spin at a different speed than the transmission. This
arrangement is similar to the automatic transmission in an automobile. |
