RDC
Tour : VIA Rail:
Controls
VIA Rail 6148 began it's life as an RDC-5 on the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Unlike the other RDC configurations, RDC-5s were built without control
cabs at either end. It was later converted to an RDC-2 and then again
to an RDC-1.
The control cabs in 6148 feature fold down seats. The seat moves
out of the way when the cab is not in use to allow passenger access from
either side of the train. This is a different design than that of
the RDCs used by BC
Rail.
The numbers above the windshield indicate we are on the "B" end of RDC
6148. The controls on the left govern the engine while those on the
right operate the brakes.
