The Mount Washington Cog Railway has eight operating
locomotives (as of 2003). Each locomotive pushes a single wooden
coach burdened with passengers to the summit. Nearly all the locomotives
are a century old. The locomotive pushing our train, #2, was built
in 1875 and has been pushing trains up the mountain for 125 years.
