I love the RDC.  This machine has operated for fifty years.  Its rebuilt diesel is a low rumble below us, the horns blast for crossings and stations and the rails clank every time we hit an aging joint. 

This is the last of the breed.  In late 2002, excluding museums, only three railroads in the world operate RDCs.  By the spring of 2003, only two still do so.
