These are
our fellow passengers in the Deluxe Observation Lounge before they became
intoxicated. We might have become intoxicated, too, both to dull
us to the musical numbers (read on...) and the continuous sales pitches.
However....
What you can't see in this
picture is that both my traveling companion and I are male and under
65. And while we never made any comment or display*, it was apparently
clear to the employees that we were homosexual. And therefore,
the staff of the Grand Canyon Railroad decided we were unworthy to be
served
and deserving of overt hostility.
To be fair, we did get one
cocktail. The bartender repeatedly visited the seats around us but
never gave us another look during the next eight hours.
*Even if we had
made an overt display, I still wouldn't expect to be be treated in the
manner we would for the next 8 hours. . |
