These are our fellow passengers in the Deluxe Observation Lounge before they became intoxicated.  We might have become intoxicated, too, both to dull us to the musical numbers (read on...) and the continuous sales pitches. However....

What you can't see in this picture is that both my traveling companion and I are male and under 65.  And while we never made any comment or display*, it was apparently clear to the employees that we were homosexual.  And therefore, the staff of the Grand Canyon Railroad decided we were unworthy to be served and deserving of overt hostility.

To be fair, we did get one cocktail.  The bartender repeatedly visited the seats around us but never gave us another look during the next eight hours.

*Even if we had made an overt display, I still wouldn't expect to be be treated in the manner we would for the next 8 hours.
